An Amazing Thing Happened on the Way to the Mass...

October 2nd, is the Memorial of the Guardian Angels. It is also the anniversary of the foundation of Opus Dei. (This year the 90th!).

Anyhow, because of this double Memorial, I had a great desire to attend Mass today.

The priest gave a passionate homily about the evils of abortion.

After Holy Mass, he was by the narthex greeting people. I thanked him for being so brave, and asked him if I could pray for him. He said yes, and I handed him the prayer in Spanish. (I guess I only packed those today), and told them there were no strings attached, that we just asked for permission first.

As I was leaving, him, and the woman behind me said, “Aren’t you going to pray for him now?”

"Sure", I said, "let's do it!"

As it happened, the people behind me were also Mexican, so I handed them the prayer cards, and explained them briefly what it was about.

Another Hispanic woman approached us. I was sure I was out of cards, but still looked into my purse, and lo and behold, and there was one more card in it!

We all prayed over Father. He was very emotional and grateful. He also confided that he felt he was under attack right now. And that this was a very timely event.

After this, we all exchanged phone numbers, and promised to call to explain our Apostolate better to these wonderful people.

I wonder if St. John Vianney, and St. Alphonsus, and the Guardian Angels heard the prayers of this poor servant of Christ, and had St. Josemaria nudge me to attend Mass here, and not where I attend regularly, as to send this priest a consolation during this tribulation.

Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom God's love commits me here, ever this day be at my side, to light and guard, to rule and guide. Amen.
