A reading from the holy Gospel according to John 15:9-11
Jesus said to his disciples: "As the Father loves me, so I also love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father's commandments and remain in his love. "I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete."
REFLECTION: "I have told you this so that my joy might be in you and your joy might be complete."
Have you ever seen the face of a new father? He beams with a smile when showing off his newborn. It is clear that the baby is the "apple of his eye".
We are told and reminded by Jesus, that we will have joy that is complete if we remain in His love.
Does God smile when He sees us? Do we worry and fret when we find ourselves dirty, sinful and unpresentable to God? Are we the "apple of His eye" in those times? Oh, yes, Our God never forgets His promises. He loves us unconditionally and with patient guidance will be by our side as we stumble and make mistakes.
Obedience is the key. Keep His commandments and God will beam with pride when He sees us following Him.
What will be our response to the joy God wants to give us? Will we wake up, offering our day to Him, ensuring that we are pleasing to God? Do we examine our conscience so as to see that which is the root of our sinfulness?
May we offer all we do for the greater glory of God and may our priests show us how to continue being the "apple of God's eye".
God Bless
