Novena for the Holy Souls in Purgatory Day 8

Meditation

Another bitter sorrow of these Souls is caused by the reflection that God had distinguished them by so many graces not granted to others, and that they compelled Him, by their sins, to condemn them to these sufferings, and that they had deserved Hell, and were pardoned and saved only by the mercy of God.

Prayer

O my God! I also am one of these ungrateful beings, having received so much grace, and yet despised Your love, and deserve to be cast by You into Hell. But Your infinite goodness has spared me until now. Therefore, I now love You above all things, and I am heartily sorry for having offended You. Grant me the grace of holy perseverance. Have compassion on me, and, at the same time on the Holy Souls suffering in Purgatory. O Mary, Mother of God, come to their assistance with your powerful intercession.

Sweet Lord Jesus have compassion on the Blessed Souls of Purgatory;

Make these Holy Souls partakers of Your happiness Divine.

Prayer to our Suffering Savior for the Souls in Purgatory

Sweet Lord Jesus, because of our sins You sweat blood in the Garden of Gethsemane, have mercy on the Souls in purgatory.

R. Lord, have mercy.

Sweet Lord Jesus, because you chose to drink for us the bitter cup of Your Heavenly Father, saying: "Not my will but Thy will be done," have mercy on the Souls in purgatory.

R. Lord, have mercy.

Sweet Lord Jesus, because You endured the pains of the most cruel scourging on your holy body, have mercy on the Souls in purgatory.

R. Lord, have mercy.

Sweet Lord Jesus, because you endured the crowning of thorns as they puncture your holy head, have mercy on the Souls in purgatory.

R. Lord, have mercy.

Sweet Lord Jesus, because you endured the pain of carrying the Cross to Calvary for us, have mercy on the Souls in purgatory.

R. Lord, have mercy.

Sweet Lord Jesus, because of the pain you endured as your hands and feet were being nailed to the Cross, have mercy on the Souls in purgatory.

R. Lord, have mercy.

Sweet Lord Jesus, because of the most bitter agony you endured as a crucified criminal to save us from hell, have mercy on the Souls in purgatory.

R. Lord, have mercy.

Sweet Lord Jesus, because of the immense pain You endured as you breathe forth Your Blessed Soul, have mercy on the Souls in purgatory.

R. Lord, have mercy.

[At this moment, ask the Holy Souls in purgatory to intercede for you. Always ask them to pray for you to have the HOLY FEAR OF GOD.]

Blessed Souls, now we have prayed for you; we entreat you, who are so dear to God, and who are secure of never losing Him, to pray for us miserable sinners, who are in danger of being damned, and of losing God forever. Beseech God our heavenly Father to grant us the grace of Holy Fear - in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Out of the depths I cry to You, O Lord; Lord, hear my voice!

Let Your ears be attentive to my voice in supplication: If you, O Lord, mark iniquities, Lord, who can stand?

But with You is forgiveness, that You may be revered.

I trust in the Lord; my soul trusts in His word. My soul waits for the Lord, more than sentinels wait for the dawn.

More than sentinels wait for the dawn, let Israel wait for the Lord;

For with the Lord is kindness and with Him is plenteous redemption; And He will redeem Israel from all their iniquities.
