FRIDAY OF THE TWENTY-NINTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, OCTOBER 25, 2024

MASS READINGS:

Gospel

LK 12:54-59

Jesus said to the crowds,“When you see a cloud rising in the west you say immediately that it is going to rain–and so it does; and when you notice that the wind is blowing from the south you say that it is going to be hot–and so it is.You hypocrites! You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time?

“Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right? If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate, make an effort to settle the matter on the way;otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge, and the judge hand you over to the constable, and the constable throw you into prison. I say to you, you will not be released until you have paid the last penny.”

REFLECTION

 You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky; why do you not know how to interpret the present time?

Have you ever seen the eyes of one who loves someone but the love is not returned? Can you see the sadness, feel and understand what is happening?

If we open our eyes, we can see the Kingdom of God is here but so many

are not interested. The spiritual and moral climate right now denies God's existence, or worse, purposely and actively defy God.

To love God we need to do His Will. So many people, events, lukewarmness, opinons, and noise thwart our ability to discern God's Will. It is important to avert spiritual crisis and moral disaster, similar to averting a speeding ticket, lawsuit or war. If we are not vigilant, we will find ourselves in court, trying to defend that which if we tried we could have prevented.

Do what is right and follow Him who loved you into existence.
