Mary sat beside the Lord at His feet listening to Him speak. Martha being a good host preparing food for her visitor complained to the Lord about her sister, but received this unexpected reply:
"Martha, Martha, you are anxious and worried about many things. There is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part and it will not be taken from her." (Luke 10:38-42)
God made us and is well aware that we have unavoidable responsibilities in our daily life. Precisely for that reason, he highlights, that even so, He takes priority, then our duties can follow; our responsibilities and self sufficiency is subordinate to "listening to Him speak".
