MONDAY OF THE THIRTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 27, 2022

A reading of the holy Gospel according to Mt 8:18-22

When Jesus saw a crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other shore. A scribe approached and said to him, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.” Jesus answered him, “Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.” Another of his disciples said to him, “Lord, let me go first and bury my father.” But Jesus answered him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their dead.”

REFLECTION

“The Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head.”

St John laid his head at the heart of Jesus at the Last Supper. He knew where he wanted to rest.

“Cor“ in Latin is the heart, the center of the humanity of Jesus Christ. This whole month we celebrate and honor the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

The very core of Jesus beats for us and is waiting for us to lay our heads in His heart.

And as He told St Faustina, My daughter, your heart is My repose; it is My delight. I find in it everything that is refused Me by so many souls(Diary, 339).

We have the Sacred Heart of Jesus to rest our burdens, be fed and find peace and solace. And as we ready our homes for company by cleaning, removing unnecessary items, let us ready our souls to be the resting place of our Lord. Go to confession repenting of our sins. Receive His Body and Blood, fast, pray and give alms.

Rest in God as He rests in us.

God bless you.
