"But your dead shall live, their corpses shall rise! Awake and sing, you who lie in the dust!" (Isaiah 26:19)
"Think well. Speak well. Do well. These three things, through the mercy of God, will make a man go to Heaven." - Saint Camillus de Lellis
The saying, 'God writes with crocked lines' comes to mind with Saint Camillus, who like most of us, came off the tracks in his youth. He was reportedly 6'-6", powerfully built, a soldier in two wars, and a gambling addict. Having lost everything, he took a construction job on a building belonging to monks; there he was converted!
Very often, by hook or crook, God gets us back on track for His holy purposes when we 'come off the rails'. God's will for us is that we be holy and spend eternity with Him. Sadly, many believe that we go to heaven (to a 'better place') by merely dying. It is said that there are only two things we can be certain of: we all die, and we all pay taxes. We don't stumble through heaven's door by accident; it has to be our intention, our heart's desire. It begins with holy charity, love of God and loving our neighbor as we love ourself.
