One of our members asked our Spiritual Advisor, Father Michael, a question regarding Eve and the Immaculate Conception.
The following is the teaching:
QUESTION:
Was Eve also immaculately conceived? But unlike Mary, Eve failed in her cooperation with Grace.
Is this correct?
FATHER MICHAEL:
Salve:
God bless you.
Critically or correctively thinking, Eve was NEVER conceived.
She was drawn out from the side of Adam during a deep slumber.
She had no father or mother.
She had only a man who called her:
"Flesh of my flesh, bone of my bone."
Meaning:
(1) Flesh: the soft part of a human being which is weak and vulnerable to pain and manipulation.
(2) Bone: the hard part of the human person which is strong and used for upholding, defending and protecting.
What Adam said, on the allegorical level, means: "Eve, you are my weakness and I am your strength and vice versa."
After having been drawn out of Adam's rib cage, the woman at the outset never had a personal name, but only a generic name, "Woman" - meaning "taken out of a man." What He called her was "my flesh and bone" (See my Thesis on the Practice of Patience); Also Genesis 2).
Only after both of them disobeyed God and chose to eat the forbidden fruit, God confronted them and sentenced them both to living a mortal life in sweat and tears, then and only then, Adam used his God-given authority to name her: Eve, "the Mother of all the living" (Genesis 3:20).
But it was a temporary living or a mortal life, not an eternal one.
So the point:
(1) Eve, according to the revelation of Genesis, was NEVER conceived immaculately at all.
(2) The name "Eve" was conceived by Adam after the fall, i.e., after they committed "the Sin" and were sentenced to a mortal life. Thus Eve was already in sin and her name was conceived in a state of sinfulness, not in grace.
(3) No man or woman, neither Adam or Eve, could be compared to Mary, the Immaculate Conception.
This doctrine of the Immaculate Conception comes from God Himself.
It boils down to one deafeningly death-defying declaration of the Divine Debunking of Sin.
It is all about God debunking and destroying "sin" by means of the Immaculate Conception.
God bless all y'all.
