Tuesday of the Twenty-seventh Week in Ordinary Time

Responsorial Psalm PS 139:1B-3, 13-14AB, 14C-15

R. (24b) Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.

O LORD, you have probed me and you know me;

you know when I sit and when I stand;

you understand my thoughts from afar.

My journeys and my rest you scrutinize,

with all my ways you are familiar.

R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.

Truly you have formed my inmost being;

you knit me in my mother’s womb.

I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made;

wonderful are your works.

R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.

My soul also you knew full well;

nor was my frame unknown to you

When I was made in secret,

when I was fashioned in the depths of the earth.

R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.

REFLECTION

The month of October is dedicated to the Holy Rosary and Respect Life.

What is the connection between the Holy Rosary and Respect Life?

The rosary is a prayer that summarizes the life of Jesus Christ and how Mary of Nazareth accepted to be His Mother. It shows that from the moment of conception Mary agreed to do God's Will by becoming the Mother of His Son.

Each of the mysteries of the rosary tells of a stage in Jesus Christ's life. The Joyful mysteries are about Mary's pregnancy and giving birth to Jesus and Jesus' early life.

The Luminous mysteries are about Jesus' ministry proclaiming the Kingdom of God on Earth, His declaration that God is His Father, and His promise to be with us till the end of the world in the Holy Eucharist. The Sorrowful mysteries are about Jesus' suffering and death on the cross and His Mother's journey with Him to the foot of His cross. The Glorious mysteries tell the rest of Jesus' story. They tell about Jesus' resurrection from death, His ascension to heaven, the coming of the Holy Spirit on Mary and the Apostles, the assumption of Mary into heaven, and the coronation of Mary in heaven. The rosary is about God's love for us, His creation, and the sacrifice of Jesus, His Son, and Mary for our salvation. It is all about life, but it is more importantly about eternal life.

The rosary is a very powerful weapon against evil and protects life. PAPA for Life and other Catholic ProLife ministries pray the rosary in front of Clinics that give out abortion pills. Even though we do not speak to the women going into the facility they see us praying. Some even turn and visit the Blue Bus which has an ultrasound machine. Most times the women choose to keep their baby and the volunteers in the bus give them information about where to get more help.

Another confirmation concerning the power of the rosary is from a

Satanist who left the cult. He said that while people are praying outside the Women's Clinics he noticed an incidence of the abortionists having difficulty doing the abortion. There is a force that prevents it. Then the child is born and is brought to an adoption agency. He found out that during those times the people outside holding "ropes" and reciting words were praying rosaries. That was when he realized that there was someone more powerful than Satan who did not want babies killed or used in Satanic rituals. That someone was protecting life.

The Lord knows us. R. (24b) Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.

O LORD, you have probed me and you know me;

you know when I sit and when I stand;

you understand my thoughts from afar.

My journeys and my rest you scrutinize,

with all my ways you are familiar.

R. Guide me, Lord, along the everlasting way.

Truly you have formed my inmost being;

you knit me in my mother’s womb.

I give you thanks that I am fearfully, wonderfully made;

wonderful are your works. ( Psalm 139: 13-14)

Let's thank the Lord for His unfathomable love and His help in guiding us to eternal life.

Let's pray for the protection of the nascent babies.
